Research

I am interested in fungal pathogens of humans, particularly Cryptococcus, Candida and Aspergillus. In my lab we are using transcriptomics and proteomics to understand how pathogens respond to various antifungal agents, and are developing new synergistic therapies based on these data.  We are also interested in the application of natural products to inhibit fungi, since many have evolved to combat fungi in the environment. Products of interest include manuka and other native honeys, and lactoferrin, an antimicrobial peptide found in milk and tears.
