Research
My research for the last 8 years has been focussed on yeast metabolism and enzymology, mainly using metabolome analysis. From my background as a Biochemist I am very interested in yeast biodiversity and physiology as source of new biological material for biotechnology. My major achievements in this field are related to the development of powerful analytical methodologies to assess yeast metabolomics using state-of-art mass spectrometry approaches. Recently, my research activities are being directed towards yeast-insect and yeast-plant associations as unexplored sources of new yeast species with potential to be applied in new biotechnological processes.
