Venue: Mount Helen campus, Federation University, Ballarat, Victoria.

Date: Wed 29th November – Fri 1st December 2017

YPD 17, like previous YPD meetings, brought together a variety of scientists and technologists interested in yeast research and applied aspects of yeast technology. The aim of the meeting was to strengthen existing links and develop new links between members of the Australasian Yeast Group (www.ayeastgroup.org).

The proceedings are downloadable via the link.

Meeting Venue and Parking

All sessions will be held in Building Y, room 016 and the adjacent foyer area.

Parking close to the building is best accessed by NOT entering the campus at the main entrance on Geelong Rd, but continuing on a further 400m and turning left onto Gear Ave. Continue for 1.2 km and turn left at East Terrace. The entrance to Carpark is on the left and Building Y will be ahead of you on your right. The carpark (#2 on the campus map) is FREE except for some permit only spaces immediately adjacent to the steps/ramp leading to the south  entrance of the building.

Early Career Researcher Award (YPD 2017 ECR)

The Yeast Special Interest Group of the ASBMB is seeking applications for an ECR award that will sponsor the winner to speak at the 2018 Combio Conference. Registration costs will be covered by the Yeast SIG. This will provide a great opportunity to present an “Invited Talk” of your work at a large national meeting and to network with your peers.

To be eligible you must have completed your PhD within the last 10 years and be a registrant for the 2017 Yeast Products and Discovery (YPD) meeting. Selection will be based upon the abstract submitted for YPD2017, plus a two page CV and one page summary of career aspirations/research vision.

To be considered for the ECR Speaker Award please combine your abstract, CV and summary into a single PDF document and submit to [email protected]. The closing date is 5pm, Friday 28th October.

SUPPORT FOR NON-VICTORIAN STUDENTS

The Organising Committee (in Consultation with Alan Munn, Chair of the Yeast Special Interest Group of ASBMB) has determined  that:

The first twenty interstate and overseas  (i.e. non-Victorian) students to submit an abstract and register will be reimbursed for their registration (which includes the conference dinner, lunches and morning and afternoon teas). This is a saving of $200.

The monies for this will come from the ASBMB Yeast Special Interest Group account and therefore will be handled separately to registration. This means that students meeting the above criteria will be required to pay upfront and will receive a cheque for reimbursement at the conference.

Once the first twenty non-Victorian students are registered with abstracts submitted, the on-line registration site will inform subsequent registrants of this.

ABSTRACT SUBMISSION

Please submit abstracts directly to [email protected]

Provide a brief, but informative title in BOLD UPPER CASE, followed by authors, institutions and addresses. Your abstract text should be 350 words or less and formatted as a single paragraph.
